Dyson acknowledges component issue as $499 CameraJet toothbrushes fail

Dyson admits that some CameraJet toothbrushes experience a component issue and is taking all necessary steps to fix the problem.
In early September, Dyson launched a new and remarkable product we never knew we needed: an AI-enabled toothbrush featuring CameraJet technology that both brushes and flosses your teeth at the same time.
Dyson claimed that its new toothbrush was “designed to remove more plaque while being gentler on gums and enamel.”
The household appliances manufacturer had been working on this high-tech toothbrush for over six years and slapped a hefty $499 price tag on it.
However, Dyson discontinued sales of the device within two weeks.
Buyers complained about overheating issues, while others noticed signs of oxidation, experienced charging issues, found water in the battery compartment, or simply saw the device die.
Consumer Reports, a US nonprofit organization dedicated to independent product testing and rating, extensively tested the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush.
“I clicked the power button, waited for the toothbrush to start, and nothing. A few LED lights turned on and off, and the toothbrush beeped at me, but no brushing. Later that day, I picked up the toothbrush and pressed the power button. This time, nothing happened. There were no beeps, lights, or vibrations at all. I placed the device back on the charging base, but still nothing. I moved the charging base through each outlet in my home, and still, nothing. My $499 smart toothbrush was dead,” Consumer Reports says in its review.
When asked if Dyson is aware of users who experienced similar issues with their CameraJet toothbrush, the company said it had received “very positive reaction” and “strong demand globally.” The company is in the process of scaling up production.
At the same time, the manufacturer admits that some consumers are experiencing issues with their toothbrush.
“We are aware that a small number of early batches of Dyson CameraJet products may have experienced a component issue. We are isolating those batches and are taking all the necessary steps to support our customers,” a Dyson spokesperson told Consumer Reports.
