Hot Topic discloses another breach

A fast fashion company, Hot Topic, has been hit by a cyberattack again. This time, attackers targeted user Rewards accounts.

In a breach notification letter to its clients, the company said it determined that automated attacks were executed on November 18-19 and November 25, 2023.

Threat actors used valid credentials (credential stuffing attack) that they obtained from unknown third-party sources.

“Based on our investigation to date, we are not able to determine which, if any, accounts were accessed by unauthorized third parties as opposed to legitimate customer logins during the relevant time periods,” the company noted.

As a result, it notified all customers whose accounts were accessed during that period, even if they accessed the accounts themselves.

“We are sending you this notice simply out of an abundance of caution,” it said.

As per Cybernews, this is the 7th attack against Hot Topic in a year.
