New York beats Silicon Valley for AI jobs


A new study into the AI job market across the US has revealed that New York is hiring AI specialists the most.

The World Economic Forum anticipates that artificial intelligence will generate an additional 133 million new jobs by 2030. Many companies are already adopting AI tools, increasing the demand for AI specialists.

AIPRM conducted an analysis of AI-related job listings on LinkedIn, revealing that among the top 50 most populated cities in the US, New York City leads in hiring for AI roles. With 1,234 opportunities available to its residents, New York City surpasses its constant tech hub rival, San Francisco.

San Francisco isn't too far behind, however, coming in at second place with 1,038 open roles. Seattle, Washington, secures the third spot with 921 AI job opportunities. Seattle has emerged as a significant tech hub with substantial engineering centers for major companies such as Meta, Google, and Apple.

The study indicates that Washington state boasts some of the highest-paying AI jobs in the entire United States. Specifically, almost half of the AI positions in the state offer annual salaries exceeding $160,000, resulting in 90 high-paying AI opportunities for every 1 million people.

California, renowned as the country’s tech capital, follows closely with 73 jobs per million people paying $160,000 or more. Colorado secures the third position, featuring 30 lucrative AI job roles per 1 million people, of which 177 offer salaries surpassing $160,000.

Remarkably, Texas stands out as the state offering the highest number of entry-level jobs in the AI industry, totaling 3,781 positions. Among all AI jobs in the state, 1.67% are designated as entry-level, translating to 12.59 entry-level AI positions per 100,000 people. These roles encompass various positions such as Artificial Intelligence Engineers, Specialists, and Developers.

Illinois secures the second position with 2,730 entry-level AI jobs. In this state, 2.44% of all AI roles are accessible without prior experience, equating to 21.7 entry-level AI positions per 100,000 residents. Florida takes the third spot, offering 1,910 entry-level AI jobs. Here, 1.23% of AI roles are classified as entry-level, providing 8.59 entry-level positions per 100,000 people.

TikTok is the company hiring the most AI-related jobs in the US with 613 total listings. Its jobs include Product Managers paying $300k per year and AI Product Policy Managers, who help to keep its online community safe.

The second most active company hiring for AI roles in the US is Microsoft. Consultancy firm Deloitte comes in third, just below Microsoft, hiring 383 roles.
