Android 15 release is planned for October

Google isn’t going to roll out Android 15 in August or September, but rather in October. Developers need more time to improve the operating system’s stability.

This is the first time we actually hear about Google’s plan to launch its newest iteration of Android.

The search engine mogul normally rolls out a stable version of its operating system somewhere in August or September. This year however, Google has decided to postpone the global launch by a month.

Quoting anonymous but well-informed sources, Android Authority points out that developers are still trying to improve the overall stability of Android 15. This takes more time than anticipated, so that’s why Google made the call to delay the release of its newest Android version.

The Android tech site also shows a screenshot from Google’s Android Beta Program. It says: “If you are waiting for the Android 15 stable update, please ignore this OTA till Android 15 is available in October”.

Google has yet to officially confirm the launch date for its newest Android version, but with all the evidence October seems a safe bet. Android Authority’s sources say we’ll have to wait until the middle of the month.

Android 15 has loads of new features, including Private Space. This allows users to hide Android apps in a secluded and secured folder, which can only be accessed after authentication with a PIN code or fingerprint.

Another new feature is called App Pairs. As the name suggests users with a tablet or a foldable smartphone can select two separate apps to be displayed side by side on the screen. A shortcut can then be placed on the home screen that will open both apps at once.

Furthermore, Android 15 has an improved Predictive Back function. This allows users to see a preview when they swipe to the right on their screen.

Lastly, Android 15 will support texting via satellite. Users can send and receive messages when a mobile connection or Wi-Fi network isn’t available.

Google plans to roll out Android 15 to Google Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones. The Pixel 6 series was introduced in October 2021. Other smartphone manufacturers will most likely follow in the upcoming months.

Google has promised to roll out five years of security updates and three major Android updates.
