Bloomberg: ‘Apple Intelligence postponed to fix bugs’

Apple’s upcoming feature, Apple Intelligence, will arrive later than anticipated. Missing its initial launch will give the tech company more time to fix bugs.
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s brand name for artificial intelligence and was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
Apple Intelligence performs most tasks on a user’s device. An algorithm determines whether a request to Apple’s cloud servers is needed. If so, it will only send the necessary data to the servers, including the source code that researchers can review. Personal and private information will not be stored on Apple’s servers. That’s how Apple wants to ensure users’ privacy.
Apple’s original plans were to make Apple Intelligence available in September, when iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia are released. However, according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who spoke to people familiar with the matter, Apple is delaying the launch of Apple Intelligence by a couple of weeks, giving itself more time to fix bugs and improve the overall stability.
Apple is reportedly planning to release a developer version of Apple Intelligence within the next few days. That’s when the company will roll out iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas for developers.
Apple Intelligence will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac computers with an M1 chip. Gurman projects that Apple Intelligence will not immediately appear on the upcoming iPhone 16. Instead, it will be made available via a software update at a later time and date.
However, in June, Apple said it was likely that Apple Intelligence will not appear in the EU this year. The company explicitly referred to the interoperability requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and claimed that these requirements would weaken the integrity of its product.
The same goes for a handful of features in iOS 18, including iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay. An improved version of voice assistant Siri is not expected until the first or second quarter of 2025.
