Instagram launches AI-powered editing tool

Instagram will allow US-based users to edit the background of their images using a generative AI-powered tool.
The tool will allow users to change the background of an image using prompts, Meta’s lead for generative AI Ahmad Al-Dahle said.
According to Al-Dahle, users will be able to give the app a prompt, for example, “chased by dinosaurs,” to create a virtually new image.
“And once you’ve posted, a “Try it” sticker will appear when you share the image created, making it even easier for your friends to use the backdrop for the first time,” Al-Dahle said.
The move comes days after Snapchat introduced generative AI features for its paying users.
Generative AI, or genAI for short, has become a must-have in tech, a year after OpenAI shook up the industry with the introduction of ChatGPT.
Companies like Adobe quickly introduced genAI features in their tool boxes, allowing users to employ AI for content development.
