Nintendo: ‘Switch 2 gaming console is breaking all sales records’

The sales numbers of Nintendo’s latest game system, the Nintendo Switch 2, have gone through the roof. The Japanese gaming company has sold 3.5 million units worldwide in just four days since its release on June 5.

In a press release, Nintendo states that this is the company’s “highest global sales level for any Nintendo hardware” within the first four days, resulting in approximately €1.6 billion in revenue.

And this is just the beginning. In Nintendo’s latest earnings release, the company is expecting to sell at least 15 million copies of its newest gaming console in the upcoming fiscal year, as well as 45 million games.

The Nintendo Switch 2 console is immensely popular: it’s been out of stock pretty much everywhere, despite the price tag of €469, which is significantly higher compared to the €329 price tag of its predecessor.

The original Nintendo Switch, which was released in 2017, has sold 152 million units worldwide, earning a top-three position among the best-selling gaming consoles ever.

Another success story of the company we find in second place: the Nintendo DS with 154 million units sold. The best-selling game console to date is the PlayStation 2, with more than 160 million units sold.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to the Nintendo Switch and features a larger, more responsive screen and new magnetic Joy Con 2 controllers.

In addition, the new gaming console is equipped with more powerful processing and graphics performance. The screen offers a 1080p resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. When docked, games can be played at a 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps).

Another great addition is that the Nintendo Switch 2 is backward compatible, meaning you can play games you purchased for the original Nintendo Switch.

Have you been lucky enough to score a Nintendo Switch 2?
