Rumor: ‘New iPhone SE will have bigger screen and Dynamic Island’

Leaked images show that Apple’s fourth generation iPhone SE might have a bigger display and may feature a Dynamic Island.

In September 2022, Apple launched its first iPhone with a Dynamic Island. It’s a pill-shaped area on the screen that changes size and shape depending on its functionality, turning the area into an information hub.

Originally, the Dynamic Island was an exclusive feature limited to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. In 2023 and 2024, Apple extended its newest functionality to all models in both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 line-up.

One smartphone that never had the Dynamic Island, is the iPhone SE, a smaller and more affordable iPhone in Apple’s portfolio. The first iPhone SE was launched back in 2016, a second and third generation respectively appeared in 2020 and 2022.

According to well-known and infamous leaker Evan Blass, Apple is planning to launch a fourth generation iPhone SE soon. On X he claims that Apple will integrate a Dynamic Island in the newest iteration as well.

The fourth generation iPhone SE will also have a 6.1 inch OLED display. Other potential specifications for the newest iPhone SE include Face ID, a USB-C port, a 48-megapixel camera, 8 GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence support, and a newer A-series chip. The device is also said to include an Apple-developed 5G modem.

According to earlier reports from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the device will be released in the first or second quarter of 2025, probably in March or April, like its predecessors were.

According to Blass, Apple is also planning to launch renewed iPad Air and iPad 11 models this year, equipped with Apple’s M3 System-on-a-Chip (SoC). The pictures that the leaker posted don’t seem to have any obvious changes to its design.
