Blue Yonder slowly recovering from ransomware attack
It remains unclear when Blue Yonder will be fully recovered from the recent ransomware attack. The day-to-day business however is slowly, but steadily returning to normal.
On November 21, Blue Yonder experienced disruptions to its managed services hosted environment. Research showed that the company was attacked by hackers using ransomware.
The supply chain software provider contacted external cybersecurity firms to help with its recovery operation.
In a recent update, Blue Yonder states it’s been working diligently with cybersecurity experts to harden its defensive and forensic protocols.
“We are making good progress, several of our impacted customers have been brought back online, and we are actively working directly with others to return them to normal business operations,” the company says.
Further details about the affected customers as well as how the attack was carried out aren’t available. Nor does Blue Yonder provide an estimate of when the situation will be fully restored.
The past two weeks, several high-profile clients of Blue Yonder have come forward, acknowledging they are affected by the ransomware attack, including Starbucks, Morrisons and Sainsbury, two big grocery chains in the United Kingdom.
In the Netherlands, retailer Hema and supermarket chain Jumbo have confessed they were among the victims as well. Hema had to shut down a number of computer systems and had to process orders manually.
“It’s a lot more work, but fortunately we have backup systems. We didn’t have to call in extra people and there will be no empty shelves in the stores,” a Hema spokesperson told Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf.
Jumbo also indicated that the attack didn’t affect customers of the stores.
